Mission
Statement - Unbridled Faith Farm
“All things are possible for those who believe!”
Unbridled means, “Returned to the original, intended state;
perfect liberty; freedom without limits”.
Unbridled Faith Farm was established to empower women and
children to regain their voice and to show them how to
inspire others to find their voice. “Voice” is who we are
and what we were created to be...our dreams, visions,
natural abilities and talents. When circumstances come and
rob us of our voice we loose the ability to be who we were
created to be. We will “Unbridle” women and children thru
the use of Equine Assisted Learning, Life Coaching, Art
Therapy, Seminars, Teaching, Support Groups, Lessons and the
Freedom Trail. We are a Faith Based 501(c)(3), non profit
corporation. We believe that knowing the Truth about who
they are and what they can do and be, is the only way to be
‘Unbridled’ and stay that way. We know that women and
children can do more that just survive…they can Thrive.

Goals
Our main desire is to see people learn, grow and receive
healing for their hearts through Jesus, using non-threatening,
experiential activities with a horse.
From the beginning we have worked to bring mental and
emotional healing to youth and adults, working together with
certified professionals, horse specialists, counselors, and
horses. Equine Assisted Learning and Equine Assisted
Psychotherapy is an emerging field. It is a short term
approach that affects real and lasting change, allowing the
participant to experience immediate therapeutic process and
intervention.

"The sight of [that pony] did something to me
I've never quite been able to explain. He was more than
tremendous strength and speed and beauty of motion. He set
me dreaming."
~ Walt Morey |
Who
We Are
We will teach the steps
that lead to a
Balanced life…body, mind and spirit. When
Balance is restored, an atmosphere has been created that can
support the awakening of Dreams. We will teach people how to
not only awaken the Dream, but to realize it! Our team will
facilitate this by helping people make the necessary
Connections
between where they were/are and where they were
created to end up by using the abundant metaphors provided
by the horse, as well as equine themed art projects,
seminars, support groups, and other specialists.
Unbridled Faith Farm is also a support to our schools,
churches and community. We offer a fun way to empower,
educate and enlighten anyone who wants a more effective,
Balanced life.

Elaine's father, Roger Devenport with Breeders cup winner
Unbridled Elaine |
Elaine
Averill
Founder of Unbridled Faith Farm. A wife and mother of two
children, she is an Ordained Minister, an equestrian with a
lifetime of experience in a wide variety of equine
activities, including showing Quarter Horses, Paints and
Pintos and winning many High Point Year End Awards, Buckles,
Saddles and Titles. Elaine
was awarded the Congress USA Championship Trophy for
Showmanship in 1971. Her Family owned Quarter Horse
Racings,” Horse of the Year“, Rocket Elaine; and the TB
Breeders Cup Dystaff winner, Unbridled Elaine. Her father,
Roger Devenport, brought the first two Quarter Horses to
Wisconsin in the early forty’s from Oklahoma. Horses were
always one of the main focus’ of her family.
Elaine attended Oral Roberts University with a major in
Psychology. During her college years she volunteered for
Teen Challenge and worked with their Youth Group and did
Emergency Interventions. Immediately following college, she
opened a boutique and hair salon, on Lovers Lane, in Dallas
Texas. While there she was written up in Harpers Bazaar for
being the New Kid On the Block, in the Dallas Morning News,
“Who’s Who” section and was voted one of Dallas’ most
eligible bachelor(ettes) for her ‘Fifth Ave. Smarts’.
Following her retail years she moved to Ruidoso, New Mexico
where she sold advertising for a Southwestern Arts Magazine.
After their marriage in 1977,she and her husband Roy were
Elders in their churches for many years, youth leaders,
leaders of Marriage Ministries International and counselors.
Elaine also led a Women’s Ministry and many home cell groups
for women as well as couples.
Like most women, Elaine experienced several heart-braking
and traumatic experiences. The result was fear, rejection,
anger, control and a need to please people. As a result of
negative things that happened to her, and the poor choices
that resulted from the abuse and violence, she fought
depression and bulimia for many years.
After beginning a personal, intimate relationship with Jesus
Christ, Elaine discovered the deep emotional healing and
freedom she desired could be found within the Word of God.
As her “Connection” to Jesus grew so did her emotional
strength and freedom from bondages. The Word began
delivering her from the past, restoring her hope and giving
her a new Dream! Unbridled Faith Farm is a result of finding
out who she was created to be, what she could do, and what
was hers in Jesus Christ. Her life’s passion is sharing her
healing journey with hurting women and children and showing
them how to be “Unbridled”.
* I want to say a very special “Thank-you” to all the men
and women of God who poured into my life. Without them the
journey would have been much less enlightening (and fun). I
also want to give my deepest gratitude and love to my
husband. He always believed in me, loved me and made me
laugh. He is my hero, my best friend and lover. Thank-you
for not giving up on me! My children; I love you more than
life; I am proud of both of you. You are my,”…more than I
could ask or think.” My girlfriends…thanks for helping me
‘giddy-up and get over it”!!! I also give my deepest,
heartfelt thanks to my dad. He loved me and knew me better
than I knew myself. When I lost my ability to dream; he knew
just how to awaken it…he bought me a horse. We always shared
a passion; maybe an addiction, for horses. He taught me to
hear them and how to speak clearly in response. He showed me
how to enter their world, and how much of a privilege it was
to be part of their herd. For us it was the language of
love. Somehow he knew that our noble friends would carry me,
encourage, and inspire me to live my Dream! Jimmy; lets
fight the fight, take no prisoners and never, never, never
give up! We will create the new legacy for the generations
to come! Carpe Diem!!
Elaine is available for emotional, spiritual, and
motivational speaking engagements please call her at (608)

"If I had a horse, I'd ride off in the

Susan Wood
Mother of 3 beautiful daughters and wife to one lucky
guy, Susan also has 6 horses, 2 dogs and a jar full of
abandoned sea monkeys! Having had a love for horses for as
long as she can remember and a thirst for knowledge, she
started reading manuals for horse owners in 5th grade
because owning one was not an option. Around junior high
she started her actual riding education at the local livery
stable whenever she could get a ride out there. With many
years of trail riding and about a dozen English riding
lessons under her belt, Susan started her formal English
Equitation training at Ball State University where she was
Division 1 Regional Champion and National Reserve Champion.
After transferring to Pace University in New York, she had
many opportunities to ride with some of the best English
trainers in the country including Olympic Medalist Michael
Page (whom she was invited to train with! A rare
invitation!). She continued competing in the
Intercollegiate Horse Show Association during college,
qualified and earned a couple 4th places at the National
level and also competed in local and USEF rated shows out
East as well as the Chicago area in the Hunters and
Equitation, flat and over fences. After meeting Dave, she
put her riding on hold to start her family.
Currently, all the Woods enjoy riding and her oldest
competes in many disciplines. Susan teaches the art of both
English and Western, coaches the 4H senior horse bowl team,
sits on the Iowa County 4H Equine board, helps her husband
manage a 12U and 14U ASA softball team (SW Wisconsin Storm)
and trains on occasion with Grand Prix rider Amy Hunter of
Viroqua WI, also Emily's jumping trainer. She organizes
riding clinics for 4H and softball clinics for the softball
teams.
Unbridled Faith is a barn that is so relaxed and
comfortable. I have never in my life encountered a barn in
which no one cares how many blues you won, how high you can
jump. And I've looked hard! At Unbridled, everyone has
one thing in common and that is the one thing that brought
us here, our love for horses! Beginner, intermediate or
advanced, English, Western or bareback, it just doesn't
matter, we are ALL horse lovers. We'd rather clean our
horse's stall than our own house! well sorta
!!
Thank you, Elaine for creating an open, caring atmosphere
with unconditional acceptance!
See ya soon,
Susan

Art Therapy and art making in general, provide people with
an outlet to express themselves and explore personal issues
and experiences, both positive and negative.
Many people do not have the ability to put a feeling,
emotion, or experience into words, but through making art
this can be possible. Art is a universally understood
activity. It transcends age, race, sex, and permeates all
cultures. Plus, it’s fun and can be enjoyed by everyone!
Everyone’s experience with art is unique and different which
is what makes it so powerful.
Art making and Horses go hand in hand. There is so much that
you can learn about yourself through horses as well as
through art. Both reflect what is going on inside of us,
making it easier for us to grow, change and understand.
